The UNICHIP was formerly named The PROgram in North America. The Racer's Group changed the name so customers can more easily identify the product and to align the name with dealers outside of North America who already use the UNICHIP name.

Over the years the development of the computer did marvels for the automotive industry. Unfortunately workshops lost all control over the tuning of these vehicles. Even the slightest idling problem cannot be cured by the non-franchised workshop. In most cases even the authorized dealers cannot cure these problems. In short, the tuning of computerized vehicles became nearly impossible.

The UNICHIP gives the properly trained technician full control over the timing and mixture functions of most electronically controlled vehicles. Not only can mixtures and timing be set, but also it can be set under various load and RPM conditions. This gives one the ability to optimize the vehicle for economy under light load conditions and set it up for optimum performance under full-throttle conditions as well.

The UNICHIP is much more than just a "chip". In actual fact it is a fully functioning computer which is added to the vehicle's existing engine control unit (ECU). Apart from controlling general timing and mixtures it can provide idling control, drive extra injectors, fully control timing functions, eliminate speed governors, etc. It can be more accurately described as a "Piggyback" computer.

The UNICHIP gets wired into the existing ECU wiring harness. If it is removed from the vehicle it returns back to the standard ECU settings. If the UNICHIP is specifically programmed with zeros the vehicle will be standard. Only areas which need additional tuning need to be altered. Many of the aftermarket components that many of you have already installed on your car can now be used to their fullest capabilities.

The factories program their ECU`s to operate under the worse conditions possible. They have to assume that customers will be traveling from state to state, using different types of fuel, encountering altitude changes, temperature variations, etc, etc. ALL engines are a little different (more than you would think) & people drive & maintain their cars differently. When the factories offer a "bonus" of not having to service your new vehicle for an extended period of time, it definitely comes at a price. They have to factor in so many variables & assure the general public that their shiny new car will start every time & under all conditions that they are forced to simply "neuter" the tuning. The ECU is setup for the lowest common denominator otherwise it will not function correctly. With the UNICHIP, everything now changes & each car can now perform to its optimum.
